It's an alternate take on chapters 53 and 54 of the manga. While those mostly focused on the human characters, especially Fuyuki, the anime's story focuses on the Keronians' point of view. Only a couple of scenes are actually shared between both versions.
Dororo and Koyuki also hadn't debuted yet in the manga.
